Welcome to Configuring your email on an iPhone iPad or IOS device (Apple Devices)
WAIVER : Please note that Calco UK do not offer support on these devices nor guarantee the procedure will work on any or all of them. We accept absolutely no responsibility whatsoever if you damage your device or cause it to stop functioning correctly by using this information. Neither will we be held liable for any losses incurred using this information. ie You try this at your own risk.
We are going to use the ADD ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTS METHOD
(The Apple website already shows how to set up email the simple way)
For the purposes of this tutorial we will assume that your email address is sales@mydomain.co.uk
YOU would therefore substitute "mydomain.co.uk" below with your own domain name : for example if your email address is john@mylovelyhorse.com its likely that:-
your username would be john@mylovelyhorse.com
your POP3 server would be mail.mylovelyhorse.com
and your smtp server would be smtp.mylovelyhorse.com
All this information will be supplied to you by your email provider.
Now the iPhone email set-up.
We have outlined the ENTIRE procedure step by step below. Inreality its a LOT less complicated than it looks. You only need FOUR pieces of information make your account work. These bits of info go into 2 screens containing carefully labelled boxes.... and thats all there is to it.
USERNAME (which is your full email address)
PASSWORD
POP3 or INCOMING MAILSERVER
SMTP or OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Once you have these proceed as follows.
1. Tap the COG ICON called Settings on your iPhone
2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Tap Add Account (under Accounts)
4. You will see list of logo buttons - scroll down to Other and tap it
5. Tap Add Mail Account
6. Add your Name : Put this in the NAME box.
7. Add your email address or username
- in the ADDRESS box
8. Add your password
in the PASSWORD box
9. Add your description (eg johns email) in the DESCRIPTION box
10. Tap the NEXT button at the top of the screen
11.Tap IMAP and it should go blue-ish or darken in colour.
12. In the Incoming Mail Server PANEL put mail.mydomain.co.uk in the HOST NAME Box
(REMEMBER to put YOUR OWN address as supplied by your email company and not this one)
13. In the same panel
in the USER NAME box add your full email address
14. Still in the same panel add your password in the PASSWORD box
15. Slide down to the next panel of empty boxes called Outgoing Mail Server
16. You are now in the Outgoing Mail Server PANEL - put smtp.mydomain.co.uk as the HOST NAME in the box.
(REMEMBER to put YOUR OWN address as supplied by your email company and not this one)
17. In the same panel
in the USER NAME box add your full email address
18. Still in the same panel add your password in the PASSWORD box
19. Tap the NEXT button
20.The account will then verify and you will be asked "Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL" TWO TIMES so please ensure you select YES to this prompt both times it is asked.
21. Tap SAVE
22. Tap MAIL on the iPhone and allow it to download the mail items for the mailbox
23.
After the account has verified you will need to check the items you wish to synchronise which will be "Mail" and "Notes" by default. (manually > SETTINGS > MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDARS > ACCOUNT YOU JUST CREATED, then and make sure the sliders are both set to ON) The > symbol means TAP the screen .
