Network Update: Mailbox Control Panel DNS changes (completed)
As part of ongoing network improvements, we are changing the IP address for Mailbox Control Panels. If you use external DNS for your domain names, with A records pointing to your Mailbox Control Panels (i.e. mcp.yourdomain), you will need to update your DNS records to point to the new IP address 213.171.195.22 by 7 April 2008.
2008 SERVER UPGRADE PROGRAMME (completed)
As servers get older it is our policy to replace them with the latest processors and software. Our rolling programme began mid February and will continue through March.
All the servers being upgraded in this phase will be LINUX and although the operating systems will be updated, they are unlikely to affect operation or existing websites. However, we will also be upgrading from PHP4 to PHP5.
We anticipate a noticeable improvement in performance and reliability as a result of this work but we are aware that there are a small number of compatibility issues that could affect the way in which your website works if written using PHP.
As part of the upgrade process we will also be installing the Zend Optimiser and IONCube.
The following links will advise you as to the likely impact of this move and steps that you can take to minimise any possible problems with your scripts: http://www.php.net/manual/en/migration5.php
We do not anticipate any risk of loss to your data as a result of this work but taking a remote backup of your websites would be a sensible precaution.
IP CHANGES
Customers with servers reliant on an IP address should call Calco UK on 01599 534964 if they have NOT already received an email outlining the changes to server IP addresses and their impact. This does NOT include MySQL servers. These will remain on their current IPs
Here on the Service Status page we will keep you up to date with the details of exactly what is happening with our services. Any technical problems that we are experiencing, whether it is our equipment that is at fault or more generic problems such as virus attacks on the Internet or reported by clients will be documented here.
If you experiencing difficulty with Broadband please wait 20 minutes to see if service is restored. Although Broadband tends to be restored within seconds, its possible that routers and modems may take somewhat longer to restore the connection. Please also remember that Broadband is carried by BT. It may be that THEIR service is down and you can check status of BT WHOLESALE general carrier Broadband HERE You may need to read the page carefully to find the link.
As you cannot connect using Broadband you may still be able to connect using a modem on our 0845 Pay-as-you-go tariff. Please call for an account.
